Microsoft Access
The majority of our database work for clients takes place using
Microsoft Access, and for very good reasons:

Ease of sharing data - Access
data can easily be shared between other applications, such
as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Rapid application development -
Using our uniquely developed Access application framework,
software applications can be built with Access very quickly, which
reduces both development cost and timescales.

Powerful, yet simple reporting -
What is the point of capturing data if it's of no use once
it is in the database? With Access, there's a very powerful
report writing tool built into the software, which is relatively simple to use and
can help transform the very same data into more meaningful
information.

Ease of use / transfer of skills
- Unlike the more 'heavy-weight' software development tools,
using Access can be learnt relatively quickly, and when
required, we can train clients in being able to look after
their software application, making them more self-sufficient.
We can also provide a consulting 'safety net' for those
trickier requirements, either by email, by phone, or in
person - which ever is the most appropriate.
top Microsoft SQL Server
For clients with a higher volume of data, or a larger number of
users, we recommend solutions based on Microsoft's flagship
database product, SQL Server, for the following reasons:

Scalability - MS SQL Server is
usually used to take over an Access database when it starts
to run out of steam, being able to serve many 1,000s of
users, with the Standard Edition being able to hold up to a
maximum database size
of 1,048,516
terabytes!

Security - SQL Server integrates
right into the Windows security model, meaning that users
can be granted permissions based on their user privileges
and do not need to remember additional passwords.

Full-Text Search - Documents
(Word, Excel, etc) can be stored directly into the SQL
Server database, allowing them to be indexed and searched,
reducing the time taken to find that vital piece of
information.

Data Transformation Services -
Anyone needing to routinely extract data from within the
database can have this automated by SQL Server, even emailed
directly to them.
